ico is awarded Society for General Microbiology website project

Inspired by our multimedia work in the science sector, the SGM have chosen ico to redesign their Microbiology Online website.

The Society for General Microbiology (SGM) was founded in 1945 and is now the largest microbiological society in Europe with over 5000 members. The SGM provides a common meeting ground for scientists working in research and in fields with applications in microbiology. ico forged a relationship with the SGM while working for the Science Council at the Big Bang Fair.

This website is an educational resource for teachers and students. The site is outdated and the task is to revalue its purpose and goals, enabling us to design an engaging and inspiring tool for the two different audiences.

This project allows us to draw on our experience of working with scientists and educators to create a website that is both informative and an enjoyable experience. We will give SGM a new modern online presence it can be proud of, is easy to maintain and has the highest standards of accessibility. Rich media will also be used where appropriate to simplify complex messages through storytelling.
