Centre for Life : Our Futures Exhibition games
As part of the permanent display at the Centre for Life we were commissioned to create an installation that would engage visitors of all ages and educate them on the future of scientific thought.
Our Solution
The exhibition tackles the complex issues of ageing, climate control and stem cells. The creation of imaginary future products helped present these topics in a fun way. Speculation on what might happen in the 23rd century led to the ‘invention’ of the ‘two calorie burger’, ‘NHS prescription gaming devices’ and ‘government-issue sunglasses’. While this project took us into the world of product design, in an extreme manner, it also stretched our other design skills: packaging live human organs was a challenge and another future packaging idea featured animated advertising.
In addition to the products and interfaces, we also designed and programmed a series of games that use the full width of a 42″ tabletop touchscreen to get the message across with impact.
