Science Council : Big Bang Exhibition graphics
The Big Bang is the UK's first national event designed to encourage young people to consider a future working in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths. ico were asked to help the Science Council create a stand-out presence with a limited budget.
Our Solution
The Science Council's stand was a collaboration of several contributors from different scientific disciplines. A crucial part of the brief was to create a unifying look across the information graphics and signage. We were also asked to name the stand - Fusion has clear scientific connotations and strengthened the theme of collaboration.
Structurally our approach was to find an exhibition system that was flexible and re-useable, but also one that would be memorable, using techniques that weren't standard or expected. Our solution was to build the entire system from heavy-duty cardboard with digitally printed graphics. This enabled us to build large structures that were cost effective, light enough to transport easily and quick to construct. On the day, the monolithic totems gave the Science Council some serious impact, the centre-piece of the show.
