The brief was to create and design a bold site that inspires and brings history and the exhibits ‘to life’, while maintaining the highest standards of functionality and accessibility. We worked closely with the curators and client content team to develop both the site structure and design.

Our main visual concept was to create impact by presenting the intriguing, unusual, mysterious and often macabre objects in the most dynamic way. We photographed key exhibits in extreme close up and showed them at a large-scale format across the site, in all their startling and provocative glory.

We developed a navigational structure that serves the user, by categorising the information into Themes & Topics, People, Objects and Techniques and Technologies. A series of inviting modules inspire users to delve further into the subject, revealing unexpected depths. And interactive features encourage users to discover the detailed analysis provided by expert historians and curators.
